The PR´24 Conference will be held at the Palacio de los Infantes located at San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a village located in the northwest of the Community of Madrid, on the southeastern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama, at the foot of Mount Abantos and Las Machotas, 47 km (29 mil) from Madrid.
San Lorenzo del Escorial was founded in the time of Carlos III, in the eighteenth century, and was constituted as a municipality in the 19th century, when it had its first mayor. It arose as a division of El Escorial, where Felipe II built the Monastery of El Escorial at the end of the 16th century and through the annexation of the adjoining properties, the Royal Site of the same name. In the segregated part were the main buildings and sites of this Royal Site, including the Monastery, which is now, therefore, in the municipality of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. This is why the aforementioned monument is also called “Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial”.
The Monastery and the Royal Site are one of the main Spanish Renaissance monuments and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on November 2, 1984, under the name of “El Escorial, Monastery and Site”.
How to reach the conference
The conference place can be easily reached by any means of transportation.
By train:
When arriving by plane, the best option is to travel to the Escorial by train with only one change:
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport Metro station – Madrid Chamartin station (16 min)
Madrid Chamartín station – El Escorial C8 line (around 50 min)
By bus:
Lines 664 and 661 from the Moncloa interchange.
By Car:
A-6 Motorway (Madrid-Coruña) to junction 47, M-600 exit to San Lorenzo de El Escorial
